Student Leadership & Voice

Student leaders act as role models and mentors in St. Joseph’s. Students are strongly encouraged to take up leadership roles within the school serving as role models and mentors for all the students in our school, and helping to build and promote a positive, safe and happy school environment by their presence and example.

Student Mentors have responsibility for specific students in First Year. They give time to these students and are kind and approachable to the students in their care.

Being a student leader in St. Joseph’s enables those involved to develop personally into effective leaders, it creates cohesion between the senior students and the rest of the student body and it aims to use the strengths of the senior leaders to benefit and inspire our younger students. The engagement of the student voice in actions and decisions which shape their learning environment is at the centre of our leadership structures

Our Student Council is a representative structure for students. They work in partnership with school management, staff, students, and parents for the benefit of the school and the students.

Students are democratically elected by each year group and regularly meet with the Student Council coordinating teacher, Ms. Mc Hugh.
