Musical/Choirs
St. Joseph’s has a long tradition of producing school Musicals and the annual TY School Musical staged by Transition Year students is very much part of the school tradition and is one of the highlights of TY. St Joseph’s many school choirs including the recently established Gospel Choir, the School Orchestra and School Trad Group are an integral part of school life and are well known for their very high standard of singing and music. They perform at all school liturgies, they stage a special Christmas Carol service, welcome prospective students and visitors to the school on open nights. provide background entertainment at Achievement Days and have a special presence at all special school occasions.
In 2020, our long tradition of staging an annual School Musical was interrupted by Covid19. However, we have fond memories of our most recent musical - "All Shook Up" which was staged on the 27th & 28th of November 2019 in the TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar. "All Shook Up" is based on Elvis Presley songs and tells the story of a mysterious leather jacketed, guitar playing stranger who comes to a small town and stirs up some unwanted mayhem. ‘The Story is New… But the Hits are pure Elvis’ !
